1) CD, “Put Danger back into Your Life” by Folksongs for the Afterlife
This poetic and lyrical prog-rock group’s style is simultaneously calming and exciting. I found it by chance but keep going back to capture more of its essence of human experience.
2) LP, “Boston,” Boston.
This rock classic is one of the very best rock records ever produced- thrilling, touching, sincere, dance music, sing-along music, nostalgia of your glory days, Boston truly has it all.
3) LP, “Aqualung” by Jethro Tull.
This album beautifully balances rock with blues, folk, and Ian Anderson’s peculiar flautistry while addressing issues of modern society and disillusionment.
4) LP, “Quadrophenia” by the Who.
Don’t let this album disappear into a bin again- stunning musicianship shapes a heartfelt depiction of generational conflict, mental illness and drug use, and the musical/cultural revolution of the 60s in Britain. The group’s second rock opera never achieved the airtime or the acclaim it deserves.
