Greetings!
In case you haven’t heard… KRLX is doing a summer program! (Join our FB page.)
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting summer plans pretty much universally this summer, we at KRLX have decided to create a summer content creation program in order to give students something to do these next few months—all the while creating content for the station and fostering a productive, fruitful community in the face of such a scary and unsure time. Feel free to put this on your resumé… And we encourage alums to contribute!
This may sound kind of nebulous, but what our program entails is really just writing, podcasting, creating art, etc., that we can put on the website. This can be anywhere from a one-time thing to something you do every week. This is just KRLX’s small way of trying to create a sense of stability during these times.
Also… We’re hosting a virtual podcast workshop with alums this summer. Details coming soon.
Answers to frequently asked questions can be found below, but if you have any questions that aren’t addressed here—or would like to learn more, or contribute—please email one of the organizers listed below.

FAQ
Q: What format is this going to take? How will people see it?
A: We’re going to create a section of the KRLX website specifically dedicated to this project (set to appear in the next few weeks.) * Besides our facebook group dedicated to organizing about the project, we’re going to post about the projects on KRLX’s social media platforms (@krlxfm on insta!) as they are uploaded to the site.
Q: What kinds of contributions can I make to this project?
A: We’re open to anything that we can feature on the KRLX website! If you can think of it you can do it.
Q: Are positions for this project paid?
A: Unfortunately, no. If we could we would.
Logistics
Q: I want to create content regularly. How does that work?
A: That’s COOL and we ENCOURAGE that. Regardless of how frequently you want to submit, we strongly strongly suggest coming up with deadlines for yourself & telling us that (eg. I wanna submit an album review every other Monday.) If you don’t necessarily want to do the same thing every interval, that’s also fine: the most important aspect is creating a schedule that’ll work comfortably for you.
Q: I read that but I still want to create content irregularly…
A: That’s ok too! In that case we suggest letting us know a week or so in advance of the things you want to send in.
Q: I have a deadline that I’ve set and communicated but I have to miss it. What should I do?
A: Just let us know as soon as you know. This also applies if you want to change the schedule that you’re sending things in.
Q: I want to work on an idea with a group, or share some resources, or ask for advice. Where can I communicate with other people working on the project?
A: Our facebook group! We’ll be doing most announcements there, but mostly it’s planned as a place to work collaboratively.
Q: All of that is cool or at least passable. What do I need to do now?
A: -If you filled out the google form, we’ll send you an email this week with a little more info. Reply to that with your general idea for what you want to do and how often you want to submit things.
-If you did not fill out the google form, email one of us! And we’ll get you in contact with someone right away.
–Start creating! We’ll provide updates about when our section of the website is going live, but in all likelihood it’ll be a few weeks from now. Feel free to submit beforehand, but nothing will be posted until the website is ready for it.
Workshop questions
Q: I wanna do a podcast but I haven’t done it before/would like some guidance. Are there any alums who have volunteered to lead a workshop that I could attend?
A: Yes! More details on the workshop are coming soon, but in the meantime please send along ideas or questions.
Q: I like the idea of a workshop, but in a category other than podcasting. Any ideas?
A: We’re planning to reach out to some more alumni to see if anyone else wants to lead a workshop like this one. In the meantime, we’re encouraging everyone to use the facebook group as a space to compile resources or highlight other interesting projects. If you individually have some interest in teaching other people about something, that’s fantastic: feel free to tell people about it in the facebook group (or reach out to one of us if you want help organizing.)
