Review: Begin Again by Norah Jones

Norah Jones thrives on hybrids. Much of her music is difficult to tie down to one genre, especially with her newest LP, Begin Again, a lush mixture of elements of hip hop, jazz, R&B, and, at times, folk. The album, in part, explores how people interact: From times of blind dependence to aggressively breaking free to the euphoria of finding something now, Jones explores the arbitrary forecast of human interaction through music almost as varied. Although the genre mixing pot and often confusing lyrics are occasionally grating (e.g. “A Song With No Name”, which reminds vaguely of America’s song of a similar title), Begin Again makes for an intimidating, yet approachable, listen.
