New Music Week 8

Top adds this week at KRLX!

St. Vincent – S/T

Exciting new stuff from the lovely Annie Clark. Daring, BOLD. Catchy with nice melodies and shit. Sounds other-worldly and fun and upbeat and, like, good for you Annie Clark!

RIYL: tUnE-yArDs, Micachu and the Shapes, Dirty Projectors

Guided By Voices – Motivational Jumpsuit

Another album from this indie rock band that has been around for over thirty years now. Wow! Sound just like they used to (fast with loud guitar and indecipherable lyrics) but older.

RIYL: The Clean, Sebadoh, Pavement

Phantogram – Voices

Sounds like… Phantogram… The best songs off this album were already released as singles or on their recent EP, but Phantogram is one of the best girl/guy duos on the scene so it’s worth a listen.

RIYL: Purity Ring, CHVRCHES, Sleigh Bells

Majestico – When Kingdom Come

Reved up neo-punk pop. Very tight instrumentation works well with lyrics that don’t pretend to have an important message and come off very casually.

RIYL: Pony Time, White Stripes, Iggy and the Stooges, Black Angels, T-Rex

Cosmos – Yellow Ostrich

Yellow Ostrich’s latest album focuses less on vocals and more on ambiance. Individual tracks have very different sounds, but the album is tied together by subtle rhythms.

RIYL: Radiohead, Noah + The Whale, Generationals
